SayIt · Android

Learn English words. Remember them.

A vocabulary app for Polish speakers. You type each word out from memory — because recognising a word on a list and being able to produce it are not the same thing, and only one of them is useful when you need it.

How SayIt works

The SayIt card screen: the English word would, with the prompt translate into Polski above it and an empty answer field. A typed answer graded as correct: the word do, the answer robić on a green field, and the option to stop showing the word. Four Polish options offered for the word when: kiedy, dlaczego, nawet and jak. The end of a session: Done, one learned word, a one-day streak, and the words practised today.

01

See the word.

One word at a time, in the middle of an otherwise empty screen. Nothing to dismiss, nothing to collect, nothing counting down.

02

Type what it means.

From memory, into the field. Typos are forgiven and Polish diacritics are optional — the app is testing whether you know the word, not whether your thumbs agree.

03

Not sure? Choose from four.

Tap don't know and four plausible answers appear. Getting one right counts for less than recalling it unaided — you were shown the answer, and the app keeps that distinction honestly.

04

Meet it again later.

Every word comes back on its own schedule, stretching from the next day out to two months as you keep getting it right. Words you miss come back sooner.

The idea

Simple on purpose. It teaches vocabulary, and leaves the rest alone.

SayIt does not teach grammar, does not run a pronunciation course and does not ask you to build sentences. Those are not gaps waiting to be filled — they are the reason a session takes five minutes and the app has nothing to learn how to use.

Words can be read aloud by your phone's own speech synthesizer, and you can add your own entries if the ones we ship do not cover what you need.

Privacy

Your words stay on your phone.

No account

Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to. Install it and start.

No server of ours

Your progress and your own words are written to your phone's storage and stay there. We do not have them, and could not fetch them.

No ads, no tracking

No advertising libraries, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier.

The app does hold the internet permission, and we would rather explain that than hide it: it comes from Google's own billing library, which handles Premium purchases. Learning itself never needs a connection. Read the privacy policy.
